October 19 1914. The first Battle of Ypres

Ninty-nine years ago today marked the beginning of the first battle of Ypres. This monument, in the middle of Provenchers Blvd in Winnipeg Manitoba, is a magnificent ,yet tragic, reminder of the fallen on that day. In the background can be seen the Belgian Club of Winnipeg.

Born in Toronto Canada, Richard is a graduate of Fine Arts from York University. He is currently completing a photo book that documents the most significant World War 1 monuments and memorial sites in Canada. The book is to be published in 2014.
