Welcome to ww1monument…..a new blog and the very first post.

Greetings to all. Thank you for visiting this blog. My name is Richard Parrish and I have traveled across Canada during the last two years photographing and documenting Canada’s most significant World War 1 Statues and memorials with co author Robert Konduros. We hope to have a pictorial history book of these memorials released sometime next year.

This blog is less about promoting the book then it is about promoting the 100th Anniversary of the First World War… AKA The Great War to end all wars. There are no living witnesses left from this war to tell their first hand experiences during this brutal slaughter of many lives. An event that surely is one of the most tragic in human history. An event, furthermore, that is still plagued with controversy as to why it happened.” Could it have been avoided”, is a question still being asked.

If you had relatives in this war, you might want to tell their story here. What happened to them?

Know of (or visited) any important WW 1 sites?Tell about it here.

Involved in any WW 1 100th Anniversary projects in your community or school? Let us know.

Have you uncovered a little known fact about WW 1 lately? Share it with us

Although this blog is Canadian bases, we welcome contributions from our American and International neighbors.

It is hoped that from this first post right to the last when the trumpet is heard, that your time spent here is worthwhile.
